Every parent who has a child learning a new language or who has a bilingual child needs quality information to help them support their child’s language acquisition.
In this post, I will share 5 bilingual/multilingual blogs that together offer a wide range of resources that parents can use on their journey. They are not ranked in any particular order.

Why do we need the right support?

Like most things in life, there is a correct way to do it and, If I may say so an incorrect way of doing it.
The way we support our children for language acquisition can either be right or not. I have made mistakes in my journey for the mere fact that I just did not know better. I thought I was helping, but in the end I wasn’t as helpful as I thought I was. It is therefore important to know how to support our children.
At the beginning of my journey I didn’t have these resources so here are 5 leading bilingual/multilingual blogs that you can get hints, tips, and activities from. Happy engagement!!

Pura Vida Moms

This blog is run by Christa, who is on a mission to help the world fall in love with Costa Rica through food, language and travel. She is a Latina mom, bicultural, bilingual (English/Spanish). I love her blog because it shows that language is so much more than written or spoken word, but it is a way of life. I however super love the fact that she shares a lot of Spanish resources from movie recommendations to books, and activities to do at home, but most of all the wonderful mouth watering recipes she shares. Christa also comes across bubbly in her writing making it easy to engage with.

So if your child is learning Spanish you may want to check out Pura Vida Moms

I love this blog because of their main theme which is raising global citizens. The push to see bilingualism as a tool towards being a global citizen is a strong message to me. They embrace art, food, culture and respect. Respect is empowering kids to know that they are equal regardless of their race or background. They have a shop on their website which allows visitors to purchase a wide range of books which supports language development.
